Storytime and Shopping

I have the perfect mommy and me activity for my Kingsport, TN locals. Did you know that once a month Books-A-Million, located in Kingsport Pavilion Shopping Center, has story time on the first Saturday of every month at 2 p.m. If your little ones aren’t napping at that time, I highly recommend taking them.

I took my two toddlers this past Saturday, but they weren’t ready for us when we showed up. I approached an employee asking where the story time takes place within the store, and she said that they normally don’t have anyone show up. She radioed a few other employees to find the book and to get the milk and cookies ready.

A few minutes later, we were sitting in the café area listening to a young female employee reading Paddington to us, while my daughter was consuming the free milk and cookies. I was so impressed. At the end of the book, the employee asked my daughter questions about what she thought about the story and how it ended. This is beyond normal story time. This is toddler book club. I love watching my children at a young age learning to love to read. It makes me happy.

Hopefully more children start attending this story time. March’s book is Frozen. Mark your calendars, mamas: Saturday, March 7 at 2 p.m. at BAM in Kingsport. Once storytime ends, you’re able to teach your children about math as you shop at Target!

Happy book clubbing, tots!
